About this project
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness and Preparatory Programme supports National Designated Authorities to build climate management capacity. \nSouthern Africa is highly vulnerable to climate change and Botswana as a dryland is especially exposed to climatic risks. Climate models (RCP4.5 and 8.5) indicate that the mean annual precipitation (MAP) for Southern Africa will decrease by 10–45% by the end of the century. Temperature change projections are more spatially consistent than those of rainfall, with projections showing substantial increases across South Africa, but with the interior warming at a greater rate than the coastal areas. Technical guidance, community engagement, livestock management infrastructure and supplies, governance and social enterprise structures for communal farmers are needed to mitigate the effects of climate change.\n\nUNOPS supplies grant management support to the Green Climate Fund to improve resilience to climate change.\n
