About this project
The AD2M-II (Projet d'Appui au Développement du Menabe et du Melaky-Phase II), is focused on improving agricultural infrastructure and livelihoods in the Menabe and Melaky regions of Madagascar. It's a follow-up to a successful first phase (AD2M-I) and is designed to address issues of water access, food security, and income generation for rural farming households.\n\n\nThe Menabe and Melaky regions of Madagascar have high agricultural potential (especially for rice cultivation) but face challenges like poverty, isolation, limited access to water, and the impacts of climate change (e.g., droughts). Existing irrigation systems are often degraded or insufficient. To improve food security and incomes for 35,000 farming households in the Menabe and Melaky regions, the project focuses on improving land and water resource access, enhancing agricultural production, supporting access to markets and economic opportunities.\n\n\nUNOPS is acting as a delegated project manager to address specific issues on three key sites: Beboka, Vondrove, and Marifilaly. These sites have existing infrastructure that needs to be repaired, improved, or completed. UNOPS is providing technical expertise, managing construction works, and ensuring quality.\n
