About this project

To support the PADFA II project funded by IFAD, the Cameroon Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER) called on UNOPS to build and rehabilitate infrastructure for rice processing units in the project's intervention zones, and to supply and install modern rice processing equipment (for shelling, parboiling, drying, grinding and packaging) that complies with food and health standards. UNOPS also provides capacity building activities for farmers' organizations and direct beneficiaries, by training cooperatives and their members in the technical, commercial and financial management of processing units, and promoting the active participation of women and young people in processing activities and infrastructure management.\n\nThis project will improve the quality of rice processing and marketing infrastructures in Cameroon and aim to reduce post-harvest losses by 15-20% in the targeted areas. This infrastructure and equipment will enable local milled rice production to meet demand from domestic and industrial markets.
