About this project

The development objective of the Strengthening Urban Resilience Project for Republic of Congo is to reduce erosion and flood risks and improve access to climate-resilient and sustainable infrastructure and services in selected areas in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire. The project comprises of four components. The first component, strengthening urban resilience and access to infrastructure and services consists of following sub-components: (i) investments for increasing erosion and flood resilience; (ii) infrastructure upgrading and improved access to urban services in vulnerable neighborhoods; and (iii) support to community engagement and development and resettlement management. The second component, policy support, institutional strengthening and capacity building aims to support policies, action-oriented plans, and operational tools, and to enhance capacities and institutions, at both central and local levels, to address persistent issues affecting urban development. It consists of following sub-components: (i) support to urban policy, programming and planning for resilient and sustainable development; and (ii) strengthening of institutions and capacities for sustainable and resilient urban management.
