Strengthening Coastal Resilience and the Economy Project

About this project

The development objective of the Strengthening Coastal Resilience and the Economy Project for India is to increase the resilience of targeted coastal communities and ecosystems. The project comprises of six components. The first component, strengthening institutions for integrated coastal zone management will support Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to plan, analyze, and make decisions about the management of their coastal and marine resources through the provision of consulting services, training and goods. The second component, shoreline management, coastal protection, and conservation will enhance the resilience of physical and natural coastal assets. The third component, improving livelihoods for natural resource dependent communities will support coastal communities in the participating states to create and sustain climate-resilient livelihoods and will finance consulting services, community grants, goods, works, and training. The fourth component, enhancing marine pollution management and plastic circularity will provide support to reduce the threats to marine and coastal resources from plastic pollution through financing of upstream and downstream interventions in identified hotspots.
