Angola - Eastern Province Agricultural Value Chains Development Project (ERAVACDEP)

About this project

The proposed project will provide farmers through Farmer Field Schools (FFS), farmer associations and cooperatives, including youth associations and cooperatives with access to improved climate resilient agricultural infrastructure, technologies and knowledge on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) e.g. soil preparation, soil and water management-irrigation and drainage, seeding, crop management, weed control, post-harvest, land management, mechanization for cereal harvesting, processing, packaging, farm machinery operations and maintenance etc. (ii) establishment of market linkages, and value addition (iii) increasing employment for women and youth under TAAT Enable Youth Compact and the Angola Youth Employment Project. The Project through IFAD – PRODESA partnership will promote formation and organization of farmers into associations and cooperatives to improve their economies of scale and bargaining power and hence enhance household incomes. This is an investment project that is designed to increase and improve climate resilient food production and productivity that will ultimately contribute to economic diversification, food and nutrition security and import substitution and employment creation.
