About this project

This project aims to strengthen the climate resilience of marginalized communities, particularly women and youth, as well as ecosystems that are highly vulnerable to climate change, through nature-based climate solutions in six protected wetlands of the Lake Chad Basin designated under the Ramsar Convention in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. The project directly supports 315,000 people (75% women) by promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices and strengthening community-based conflict resolution mechanisms. It also aims to improve ecosystem services for approximately two million people through the restoration of 10,000 hectares of wetlands. In addition, an estimated 2.7 million people displaced by conflict (60% children and 25% women) will benefit indirectly from the project’s contribution to regional stabilization efforts, including peaceful conflict resolution and strengthened community-based governance processes.
