About this project

This project aims to scale up resilient livelihoods for women in the blue economy and improve communities’ coastal management in Kwale and Kilifi counties in Kenya. Project activities include: (1) training mangrove farming groups on restoring, conserving and value adding; (2) providing women-led seaweed cooperatives with equipment, seeds and knowledge for seaweed production and value addition; (3) providing support for conservation agriculture, climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and environmental conservation; and (4) providing training on green life skills, women’s economic rights, sexual and reproductive right, and gender equality. The project aims to directly reach over 48,000 participants with nature-based solutions, including more than 24,000 women and girls, and over 400,000 people indirectly.
