About this project

July 2026 – Political instability, conflict, natural disasters, and disease outbreaks have left more than 18 million people across the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in need of urgent assistance. The Bundibugyo Ebola virus is unfolding in an already fragile context and is increasing vulnerabilities, humanitarian needs, and operational complexity. As of August 6, more than 4,000 cases have been confirmed, with over 1,800 deaths. Food insecurity is also worsening in several regions. With support from Global Affairs Canada, the World Food Programme (WFP) is responding to the increasing humanitarian needs in the DRC, arising from conflict-related insecurity and the Ebola outbreak. Project activities include: (1) providing emergency food and nutrition assistance; and (2) supporting logistics services.
