About this project

In this project, funds are provided to enable lending by the project executing agency Banque du Caire (BdC) to Egyptian companies to invest in energy or emission saving measures. These can be measures such as the purchase of modern air conditioning equipment, or the use of climate-friendly vehicles, i.e. standardized measures, as well as individual improvements to the production process or other measures tailored to the end borrower. All investments will be assessed in line with the criteria applied by the Green for Growth Fund (GGF) before any lending takes place. This may also require the involvement of an external expert to ensure the set target of at least 20% reduction in greenhouse gases across the entire portfolio. Due to the novelty of the product, the accompanying measure will strengthen BdCs capacity to establish and further develop its credit and all downstream processes.
