About this project

The devastating flood disaster in Pakistan, triggered in August 2022, hits the poor, and here women and children, particularly hard. Immediate and effective support is therefore urgently needed, as the poor have hardly any financial reserves. The aim of the project is, on the one hand, to make a rapid contribution for the poor, especially women and children, to cover their basic needs in the context of the flood disaster. On the other hand, the resilience of the poor and vulnerable population is to be strengthened as a preventive measure for upcoming climate extremes. This is to be achieved by strengthening the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and its capacity to provide poor and vulnerable population groups with adequate social protection, adapted to the frequency of increasing climate risks. The module objective is to be achieved with the following measures: Extension of support to the BISP program to reach flood victims (Unconditional Cash Transfer Payments (UCT) or Conditional Cash Transfer Payments (CCT), Further development and implementation of the CCT concept under BISP for mothers and children, which will also provide targeted transfer services for certain climate changes or extremes, Further development of the payment system of transfer payments for UCT as well as CCT to the BISP recipients. The target group of the project are the BISP recipients and thus the poor and vulnerable population in the project region, in particular victims of the flood disaster. T…
