Strengthening food sovereignty with a focus on the preservation of varietal diversity and farmers variety breeding in Mali

About this project

The project contributes to the food sovereignty of the farming population and strengthens their resilience to climate change. Farmers analyse in detail the characteristics of farmers varieties of cereals, pulses and vegetable crops with the aim of preserving and improving the diversity of varieties. In addition, the local actors (breeder farmers and agricultural advisors) become familiar with the process of participatory breeding and master the crossing of varieties
