About this project
The project shall strengthen the resilience against food insecurity of marginalized stallholders in Amravati district in Maharashtra State, including women and people living with disabilities. The project will support as direct target groups 4000 marginalized smallholders with and without disabilities including women to increase their agricultural productivity and their agro-biodiversity. To this end the project will support the target groups to organize themselves in inclusive community-based organizations including 100 women Self-Help Groups, 100 Organizations for People with Disabilities and 40 Farmers Interest Groups. Moreover, the project will ensure target groups gain knowledge about sustainable agricultural technologies including organic farming methods and are aware about governmental support schemes. 120 Master Trainers play a key role of multipliers in the project building the capacity of smallholders. Finally, the formation of two inclusive Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in the Warud and Daryapur blocks shall improve smallholder negotiation as well as their market competitiveness, and so increase their income. The establishment of seed banks with locally indigenous, climate-resilient seeds shall enhance agro-biodiversity and guarantee a stable and sustainable production. Indirect target groups include the 16.000 to 20.0000 household members of supported smallholders and landless smallholders will benefit from the distribution of livestock.
