Sustainable Community Action for Climate Change Mitigation in Tribal Junction of Central Western India

About this project

Tribal habitats in India are due their diverse ecological features climate change hotspots and due to remoteness on account of governance and services along with poor political willingness are hardly involved in mitigations actions. This also impact state action plans for climate change in the form of slow realization. In this context participatory decided climate change mitigation needs actions by communities in such regions involving both men and women. The proposed action is to develop, and test module of indigenous community led CCM movement and join hands for Climate Change Mitigation (SDG-13), Zero-hunger (SDG-02) and No poverty (SDG-01). In the framework of capacity development it will involve knowledge building of community-based organizations, strengthen the baseline information as climate change risk mapping, evolving approaches of mitigation actions, demonstrate successful practices and advocate for community led State Action Plan for Climate Change (SAPCC).
