About this project
The project aims to improve water management and access to drinking water in two districts in the so-called Central American Dry Corridor. This is achieved by building local capacities at community and institutional level. On the one hand, community organization structures are strengthened technically and administratively and enabled to demand the implementation of the human right to water and to advocate for a corresponding public policy. On the other hand, water resources are to be protected through the participatory development and implementation of action plans for sustainable water management. Measures for the construction and rehabilitation of rural drinking water supply systems, the construction of latrines and the purchase of filters also improve access to and the quality of drinking water for project participants and ensure adequate sanitation.
