Improving educational and training opportunities for adolescent girls by reducing early pregnancies

About this project

The project aims to improve the educational and training opportunities of adolescent girls by reducing early pregnancies and improving the quality of sanitary conditions in schools. The project therefore focuses primarily on female students aged between 14 and 17 in 15 selected secondary schools in the Kibaha Town Council District. However, as their situation is largely determined by the behaviour and views of those around them, the project is also aimed at the male students of the selected schools as well as the parents and people in the communities where the schools are located. In order to achieve the objective, the project provides for a whole range of measures aimed at prevention through education, protection through counselling and mediation, concrete vocational promotion, improvement of the sanitary situation in schools as well as extensive lobby + advocacy activities through the establishment of an NGO network, public action days and discussion forums with relevant stakeholders at village, ward, district and regional level. The measures and impacts are therefore not limited to the micro level, but also include the meso level.
