About this project

The project aims to strengthen social cohesion and peaceful coexistence in 3 districts of the Ninewa governorate. This is to be achieved by creating a basis for mutual understanding and cooperation in order to lay the foundations for harmonious coexistence in the long term. The primary target group is 750 people in need. A number of objectives are planned: 1. measures to promote understanding between the groups in order to improve social cohesion. 2. Access to livelihood opportunities will be improved in order to strengthen economic networking and community involvement. 3. networking/coordination between local and national peacebuilding bodies is sought in order to strengthen peacebuilding. 4. the project emphasizes capacity building of the partner organization so that it can play its role in promoting social cohesion more effectively. A participatory approach is fundamentally envisaged, which provides for the involvement of key people from business, religion and government as well as community representatives in all decision-making processes. Disadvantaged groups are structurally anchored at the core of the project, as is a holistic approach that combines business, coexistence and culture. The broad participation of local actors is intended to create a lasting basis for social cohesion in Ninewa.
