About this project

The project contributes to improving the well-being of rural communities affected by climate change in Mozambique by improving access to food security, drinking water supply and income, and by increasing the realisation of their basic rights. Improved agricultural techniques and resistant seeds increase the resilience of the rural population to climate change. Small-scale irrigated agriculture, diversified production that also includes fruit and vegetables, makes the populations diet more balanced and ensures food security. Support for the construction of wood-saving stoves and the establishment of forest nurseries. Income can be generated independently through agricultural fairs and practical training. Improving access to clean drinking water (well construction, repairs, cattle drinking troughs) and sanitary facilities (construction of latrines), awareness-raising campaigns on hygiene, strengthening water committees. The fourth component aims to sensitise women and men to gender issues and basic and childrens rights and to support elderly and disabled people.
