About this project
The project objective is to improve the income and food security of approx. 250 extremely poor families (approx. 1,000 people) in the Mulanje district using the ultra-poor graduation approach. Building on existing capacities, the target group is supported in establishing sustainable economic activities and offered counselling and coaching in the following areas according to a holistic approach: Social, entrepreneurial and financial skills, income generation, health, WASH, safe housing. Local structures are promoted that improve village development and the social and economic integration of the target groups in the long term. Financial inclusion is achieved by setting up and advising locally based, self-managed savings groups. Existing government services in the areas of agriculture, livestock farming and health are integrated into the project. Cooperation and exchange with local and regional authorities ensures that the project works in harmony with/complements Malawian social and economic policy.
