About this project

The project is the follow-up phase to the Joint Integrated Resilience Programme (JRP Phase II) implemented by WFP, FAO and UNICEF. The aim of the multilateral project commissioned by the BMZ (Transitional Assistance) is to Strengthen the socio-economic resilience of small farmers and vulnerable households in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. JRP II will be implemented in the provinces of South Kivu and Tanganyika. The project activities focus on five outputs: 1) strengthening food security by increasing agricultural productivity, 2) increasing and diversifying household incomes by strengthening and market-connecting farmers organisations and promoting entrepreneurship and financial inclusion, especially of women, 3) improving access to basic services such as WASH and health services, as well as measures to prevent and treat malnutrition, 4) strengthening social cohesion in target communities by analysing conflict dynamics, expanding radio infrastructure and strengthening community-based structures, and 5) improving access to family planning services.
