About this project
There is a trend of increasing stigmatisation of human rights defenders and organisations by the media, some authorities, companies and a number of illegal activities taking place in the communities territories. This is taking place against a backdrop of growing social tensions and conflict. One of the factors that has contributed to the conflict is the weakness of comprehensive territorial, environmental and conflict-related policies. Human and environmental rights defenders face systematic violations, for example in connection with the implementation or development of extractive projects. The project addresses members of farming communities in mining regions, human rights and environmental activists. The aim is to effectively realise the human rights of the indigenous population and vulnerable communities, especially in areas where legal and illegal mining activities take place. To this end, education activities, training, reporting, systematisation of articulation processes and public campaigns are carried out.
