Integrated rural development through site-appropriate sustainable agriculture in Uganda

About this project

Farmers in the project region are increasingly suffering from the consequences of climate change. The changes in the rainy seasons in particular are leading to lower yields. Particularly in critical, dry months the food supply is no longer guaranteed and households can no longer adequately provide for themselves. Cultivation methods are not adapted to the changed climatic conditions and smaller areas of land are putting pressure on the soil and reducing yields. Due to the increased cost of living, incomes have to be increased. Agricultural products are sold, so that the local food supply is further exacerbated. The project responds to these challenges e.g. by training smallholder households in methods of climate-adapted sustainable agriculture, organising them into groups and strengthening marketing opportunities.
