About this project
Malnutrition and stunted growth in children are widespread in the project region. This is mainly due to the generally low agricultural productivity of small farmers. The diet is monotonous and many households lack sufficient food for the entire year. High food prices, especially in the period from December to March, when shortages are at their greatest, exacerbate food insecurity. In addition, there are insufficient marketing opportunities and a high degree of gender inequality. The project contributes to integrated rural development in favour of smallholder households by improving sustainable agricultural production and marketing, empowering youth to contribute to the economic development of their households, and strengthening the capacity and sustainability of farmers associations. Planned activities include training, practical exercises and mentoring of farmer groups, young people and animators on relevant topics.
