About this project

Kenya is one of the countries in the world that is particularly affected by climate change and water scarcity. People who live from mobile livestock farming in the north come to southern parts of the country more often than before to graze their animals there. The aim of the project is to improve the water supply in the region and to ensure that the structures to be built are managed sustainably by the local communities. To this end, water construction measures are being implemented (water tanks, pipe extensions, water meters, extraction points, water kiosks) and workshops are being held with local communities and water user committees. These are also strengthened in their formal structures. Awareness-raising on hygiene, gender and activities to improve vegetation are addressed as relevant cross-cutting issues.
