About this project

Agriculture and livestock farming are the most important economic sectors in the project region, which is mainly inhabited by indigenous people. Due to the altitude profile, only 10 per cent of the land there can be used for agriculture. These are extensively farmed and yields are low due to the poor soil quality, inadequate cultivation techniques and insufficient irrigation systems. Due to the remoteness of their habitat and the language barrier, the indigenous smallholders have no access to training opportunities in the areas of livestock farming and milk processing in order to increase their yields for their own use and for marketing. The aim of the project is therefore to support the target group in creating prospects through agricultural promotion, local and marketing initiatives. Measures include technical training and advice as well as support in equipping small businesses.
