About this project

Training and networking initiatives are designed to enhance the organizational, networking, and advocacy capabilities of indigenous peoples, contributing to broaden their understanding of climate change-related issues (Subgoal 1). Specific project interventions, utilizing among others, georeferencing systems, a dedicated app, and the dissemination of traditional knowledge, are intended to further augment their knowledge and skills, fortifying their ability to safeguard their territories and bolster traditional production systems (Subgoal 2). Strategic political and legal interventions at local, state, national, and international levels are envisioned to drive structural transformations and sustainable enhancements in the protection of indigenous rights and territories in the Amazon region and the Cerrado (Subgoal 3). Ultimately, through continuous training, assemblies, and networking events, the technical and managerial capabilities of CIMI will be strengthened and the Brazilian CIMI networks expertise in climate change enhanced (Subgoal 4). In summary, this comprehensive approach aims to significantly empower indigenous peoples and their territories in Brazil, concurrently advancing the causes of climate justice and climate protection.
