About this project
The project location or region is a rapidly growing region in the south of Zambia due to rural immigration. This creates residential areas on the periphery, where people live in very precarious conditions in the hope of a better life. This also applies very much to the lack of infrastructure in the education sector. Primary schools can be created more quickly, but there is hardly any possibility of an upscale education at a secondary school. Only one in five young people currently has a place at school, and girls suffer the most. That is why the construction of a new secondary school is very important, especially for girls. Some of the students families live on the periphery, some further away in a rural environment. Most families live from subsistence farming, which is not a supporting basis for a better life for the family and their children. Improving this is an important goal of the project. A demonstration farm will be set up on the school grounds, and in addition to training according to the curriculum, the pupils will also be trained in using and passing on alternative cultivation and cultivation methods for rural areas. In addition to the students, women/mothers from the villages are also actively trained to implement this knowledge in their settlements. This can lay the foundation for a sustainable improvement in the living conditions of the population.
