About this project

The projects measures aim to strengthen the economic capacities, self-determination and gender equality of indigenous women working along the coffee value chain in Oaxaca, Mexico. Through specific training in these areas, they are equipped with the necessary skills to increase their production and profit in the coffee sector, to manage their business independently, to be more aware of their role as women in the sector and to advocate for their interests in a network of women coffee producers at local level. In addition to skills training, the coffee producers also receive practical instruction in the use of materials and machines along the coffee value chain and can use these with the initial equipment they receive to be more successful in the various production stages of coffee processing. Through partnership agreements with large and small businesses, the markets for the coffee produced by the women are diversified, and men and local officials are involved in the project by understanding the importance of the womens work and advocating for equal rights.
