About this project
The overall objective of the project is that 2,010 smallholder farming families (12,060 individuals) in 3 Kargboro, Ribbi and Upper Banta Chiefdoms of Moyamba district use sustainable agricultural methods and improve their socio-economic wellbeing. The target group will be trained in utilizing and managing Village Saving + Loan Associations, Farmer-Based Organisations and Cooperatives, and learn how to collectively market their produce. They will gain access to improved knowledge in climate smart agricultural practices and adequate tools and inputs. Their awareness of the Customary Land Rights Act will be improved through advocacy efforts with the aim of securing government support for its adoption in Sierra Leone. The project will also contribute to access to a nutritious diet and improve hygiene and sanitation facilities. In addition, the capacities of the two partner organizations will be strengthened in identified areas.
