About this project
Paraguays growth potential has not yet been fully exploited and production is concentrated on just a few goods, mainly for the international market. Together with small landowners in the catchment area of the Mbaracayú and Tapyta protected areas, where poverty and deforestation are high, the aim is to identify products that can be integrated into retail chains. This also includes expanding the forest area in order to increase the range of products on offer. This will strengthen food security and improve ecosystem services. In particular, women and IP+LC are included in the measures and promoted. The project is based on an agroecological approach, that makes sustainable use of renewable biological resources and promotes economic diversification by identifying non-traditional products. The aim is to create 250 ha of new forest area of the Atlantic rainforest in order to utilize the potential of the products and protect the environment.
