About this project

The project sensitises smallholder farmers (including women, youth, older people and people with disabilities), their communities and representatives of local government authorities to environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources. Through training in tree planting and maintenance as well as the production and use of briquettes and energy-saving stoves, they acquire the knowledge and skills they need to integrate environmental protection practices into their agricultural activities. Selected smallholder farmers are further trained in climate-smart agriculture practices, including the use of small-scale irrigation technologies, and supported with high-quality inputs. Through training in community-based savings and credit programmes, financial literacy, networking with various financial and service providers and support in diversifying their income-generating activities, access to markets and financial services for smallholder farmers is also improved in order to promote sustainable strengthening of their resilience and livelihoods.
