About this project
The project focuses on the consequences of climate change and natural disasters in the project region in the Andean highlands, with their effects on poverty, the weakening of local structures and migration. The improvement of food sovereignty is pursued through water management, soil protection, agro-ecological cultivation methods, reforestation, the use of traditional knowledge and local seed varieties. Vulnerability analyses and precautionary plans are drawn up for risk prevention. The self-organisation of indigenous communities is strengthened, including a focus on the participation of women, in order to strengthen their capacities to act. The local indigenous communities are also pursuing the status of Autonomía Indígena, a self-governing status in Bolivia. This process, as well as further representation of their interests, is supported by legal advice, advocacy and networking at the municipal, provincial and departmental levels in Potosí City and La Paz.
