About this project
The Colombian Amazon region is characterized by an abundance of water and biological and ethnic diversity. In the context of the reconfiguration of the conflict following the 2016 peace agreement, new armed actors have gained influence in the project region. The planting of coca for illegal use is a major driver of deforestation and has massively pushed back local peasant production. Traditional seeds have largely been lost. Food sovereignty and food security are severely restricted. Farming families are to be supported in setting up production systems that improve crop yields and family income in harmony with nature. Farming families have improved the defense and assertion of their rights by strengthening networks, local farmers markets and the establishment of a participatory guarantee system. To this end, further training measures on alternative energies and sustainable agricultural and livestock farming techniques as well as exchanges of experience at various levels are being carried out.
