About this project

While the consequences of climate change in Bolivia are increasingly threatening the foundations of future agriculture and thus the countrys food security, not least as a result of the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest due to the expansion of the agricultural front, the government continues to promote the agricultural industry responsible for this in the hope of export revenues. At the same time, many smallholder farms are finding it very difficult to adapt their production systems to the new climatic conditions. The aim of the project is, on the one hand, to develop proposals for a sustainable agricultural policy at various levels through the network of civil society organisations and to influence state institutions to implement them. On the other hand, small-scale farmers and indigenous producers are to be empowered to adapt their production systems to the new conditions and, in coordination with other organisations, approaches to resource conservation are to be developed and implemented at territorial level. The target groups of the work include smallholder and indigenous producers and their organisations, the general public, government decision-makers and institutions in the field of agriculture as well as other civil society organisations. Measures include carrying out applied research projects, raising public awareness, developing policy proposals, supporting grassroots organisations in their lobbying work, forming alliances, training and exchanging experiences.
