About this project
In Brazil, the policies of left-wing President Lula are being thwarted by conservative and extreme right-wing circles, which have a majority in parliament and Congress. As a result, the social divide remains extreme and unpunished violations of human rights are the order of the day. Despite the progress made in the area of citizen participation in ensuring state social policy, the difficulties for the recognition and sustainability of civil society involvement persist. The project objectives therefore relate to influencing state social policy and combating all forms of violence and rights violations, as well as ensuring the protection of human rights and nature from the perspective of climate justice and a good life for all. Project measures include courses on social participation mechanisms, better cooperation between state and civil society organizations, information about and encouragement of grassroots groups to influence civil society on state social policy, advocacy actions in the development of state social policy measures, improvement of fundraising and other internal mechanisms of the Caritas network, support for communities in the development of resilience plans in the face of the climate crisis, food sovereignty of selected accompanied groups. As the largest social organization of the Catholic Church in Brazil, the Caritas network plays an important role in representing the interests of poor and marginalized sections of the population in national political dialogue…
