Strengthening agroecological agriculture and environmental protection in El Salvador

About this project

The project region is located in the centre of the Central American arid corridor and is particularly hard hit by the effects of the climate crisis and environmental pollution. Added to this are the poverty and lack of prospects of the rural, predominantly smallholder population, which leads to young people in particular emigrating to the USA in large numbers. The aim of the project is to establish agroecological living and farming practices and to promote local initiatives to protect the environment and natural resources. The target groups are smallholder farming families and community representatives who act as multipliers. To achieve the project objectives, training measures on agroecology and environmental protection are to be carried out. In addition, local organisational structures are to be established and strengthened that are able to independently develop and implement strategies to protect the environment.
