About this project
The project region is one of the most neglected parts of Colombia. The majority of the population are indigenous people. Indigenous protected areas are under pressure from extensive agriculture and livestock farming and greed for mineral resources. In this situation, indigenous and smallholder communities need to be supported and their capacities to organise themselves, protect themselves and stand up for their constitutional rights need to be strengthened. To this end, in addition to training, legal advice and support, regional meetings and exchanges as well as public relations and advocacy activities are carried out. The measures also include precautions for the (self-)protection of the target group. The measures are accompanied by joint research and publications as well as national and international advocacy work within a network.
