About this project
In the project region, rainforest and livelihoods of indigenous communities are under serious threat from mining, deforestation and oil projects. This is causing considerable environmental damage and social problems. The aim of the project is to strengthen the cultural identity of indigenous peoples, protect water and nature, and improve nutrition and income in a sustainable manner. The project measures are aimed at indigenous families, especially women, and include organic farming with products such as achiote, corn and beans, as well as their marketing. In addition, training courses on rights, leadership and entrepreneurship are offered. A law school, environmental campaigns, reforestation initiatives and the promotion of womens and craft groups provide additional support to the communities.
