About this project

In the Philippines, around 3.4 million people in remote regions have no access to electricity. This energy poverty continues to be a major obstacle to social and economic development and to the fight against poverty. The project therefore aims to contribute to energy, water and food security for poor rural communities. A total of 3,500 poor families from indigenous communities are set to benefit directly from the project. Planned measures include construction work (power station, canal, etc.) in connection with the installation of renewable energy systems, hydropower and solar energy development, rehabilitation of small-scale hydropower plants, training for local plant operators on maintenance, cost management, bookkeeping, watershed management, climate change adaptation, leadership and organisational development, as well as advocacy, lobbying and networking activities.
