Strengthening the economic, social and cultural rights of indigenous peoples in north-eastern Bangladesh

About this project

The economic, social, and cultural rights of the ethnic groups reached by the project are frequently violated, including through the failure to respect their land rights and the fact that access to government services such as health care and education is difficult or nonexistent, particularly in villages located in tea plantations. Promoting education and vocational training for girls is particularly important in this context, as it helps curb the widespread practice of child marriage. The project partner supports the target groups in asserting their rights, accessing government services, and obtaining important official documents (such as ID cards and birth certificates). The organization pursues a participatory and holistic approach that appears well-suited to empowering the target groups to improve their situation in a sustainable manner.
