About this project
Along with other island nations in the Pacific, the Philippines is particularly hard hit by climate change. According to the Global Risk Index, Philippine cities rank second among the worlds most vulnerable cities. In particular, the settlements of the urban poor, which are often located in hazard zones (along rivers or in estuaries), are affected. From a poverty perspective, the lack of access to housing, drinking water, energy, and social infrastructure such as kindergartens, schools, and health facilities is critical, as is protection from the consequences of the climate crisis.
