About this project

The project focuses on protecting vulnerable groups in Brazil, especially black women and low-income people in informal settlements who are at risk of forced eviction. It develops methods for community mapping of land use conflicts and maintains the database for the Zero Evictions Campaign. In cities such as Recife, Manaus and Belém, the project supports communities in risk analysis and the development of response plans to socio-ecological conflicts and natural disasters. In addition, local actors are trained and exchange and networking formats are organised to strengthen the right to housing. Another focus is on nationwide mobilisation of civil society and international dialogue to enable political influence against evictions and promote more equitable, resilient urban development.
