About this project

The project region is severely threatened by intensive mining, eucalyptus monocultures and the effects of the climate crisis. Water sources and biodiversity are increasingly being destroyed, which particularly affects traditional communities and indigenous peoples. The project aims to strengthen the protection, self-governance and sustainable use of their territories. This includes lobbying, developing resource management strategies and providing targeted legal advice. Another focus is on expanding climate-resilient agro-ecosystems through agroecological techniques and better water management, for example by tapping new sources and disseminating native seed varieties. Young people and women are specifically supported through educational opportunities, workshops and greater political participation, with the aim of improving social and environmental justice in 36 districts.
