About this project
The region is characterised by water scarcity, periods of drought and social inequalities, as well as inadequate urban infrastructure and increasing violence. Women in small-scale agriculture are particularly affected by poverty, isolation and multiple burdens. The target group comprises around 130 women from rural and urban womens groups – predominantly black smallholder farmers – as well as a further 500 people indirectly. The project aims to strengthen agroecological practices, promote womens economic and social autonomy, combat violence against women and ensure food sovereignty and security. Planned activities include workshops, technical advice, courses, exchange formats, lobbying government agencies, and measures to generate income and promote urban agriculture.
