About this project

The work of the project organiser benefits around 200,000 small-scale fishing families, who are supported by seven regional offices and live in precarious conditions, with limited access to rights and a lack of infrastructure. The national office coordinates, consolidates and networks the work of the regional offices and advocates for small-scale fishers at the political level by supporting them in asserting their land and human rights, accessing public services and protecting their territories against threats posed by large-scale projects and climate change. In doing so, it contributes to the social, environmental and cultural sustainability of one of the poorest and most disadvantaged population groups in Brazil.
