About this project
The rural population relies on subsistence farming combined with extensive livestock rearing (partly on common land). Their traditional, resource-conserving way of life is increasingly under threat from mega-projects in the mining, energy generation and agribusiness sectors. The project’s objectives are to secure access to land and water in their territories, to defend rights and a traditional way of life, to mitigate the impacts of climate change, and to increase the participation of women and young people in their communities’ decision-making. Project activities include training on current legislation (including environmental laws) relating to large-scale projects, workshops on water justice and climate change, strengthening the communities’ political advocacy, exchange meetings, support in land disputes, marketing of products, and seminars for young people and women on rural identity and culture.
