About this project
Residents of informal settlements are among the most vulnerable groups in South Africa. They are affected by inadequate public services, poor infrastructure, high unemployment and significant climate risks. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of marginalised residents of informal settlements to take action, so that they can drive forward settlement improvement measures independently, assert their rights and participate in climate-resilient solutions. The project’s objective is to achieve improved access to basic services, greater political influence and reduced vulnerability to climate risks for informal settlement residents. Activities include dialogue forums with residents and government representatives, workshops on land rights and adapted technologies, exchange visits and community action planning.
