Strengthening Adaptive and Inclusive Food Systems for Improved Nutrition and Climate Resilience in South Asia

About this project

This phase expands and strengthens the NSC model by introducing sub-regional structures – Community Collectives – that expand local value webs through Learning Hubs, fostering innovation, knowledge exchange, and economic resilience. Unlike linear value chains, value webs are dynamic, decentralized, and interconnected systems, continuously growing beyond individual communities. They enable circular flows of knowledge, economic exchange, and resources, strengthening food system resilience and self-reliance. Therefore, the Nutrition Smart Community (NSC) approach will complement the project (NSC III) by strengthening governance linkages and enhancing the capacity of local governments, farmers, and SMEs to adopt nutrition-sensitive food systems. However, to achieve larger systems transformation, the new NSC iii must now evolve by forging stronger connections to higher governance levels and adopting a systematic scale-linking approach. This focuses i) Collaboration Networks & Leadership for Systemic Transformation (All Levels) ii) Adaptive & Inclusive Governance for Multisectoral Action (Meso Level) iii) Decentralized Learning & Local Economic Reinforcement (Micro/Sub-Regional Level).
