About this project
Despite women comprising 65% of the agricultural workforce in Kiambu County, they're limited to lower level, less profitable activities and excluded from key decision-making processes due to entrenched patriarchal norms. This reduces efficiency and impacts food security and nutrition. The high incidence of gender-based violence (GBV) further hampers women's ability to contribute effectively to the agri-food sector and assume leadership roles. The project aims to empower women by increasing their participation in governance and decision-making within agricultural value chains, advocating for equitable land ownership, and implementing measures to mitigate GBV.It seeks to create a more inclusive, resilient agrifood system, fostering gender equality and improving nutrition and food security.
