About this project
Improving food and nutrition security of smallholder farmers and youth, MSME, value chain agribusiness in Pakistan targets the districts of Tharparkar and Thatta in Sind, Pakistan. According to the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES), 64% of households in Thatta and 51% in Tharparkar face food insecurity. These districts are among the poorest in the country. Tharparkar has a significant livestock population, while Thatta ranks as the fifth largest rice producer in the region. Its coastal location and proximity to cities create opportunities for inland fisheries. The project aims to harness the economic potential of three value chains, fostering collective action and representation among farming communities. It focuses on improving both production and market -systems for rural farmers.
